38th Annual 2021 Granada Hills Holiday Parade

Sunday December 5, 2021

Download Parade Application

Dear Granada Hills Holiday Parade Participant,

There is a slight nip in the air as it can only mean that it is time to dust off the flatbed, polish the harness, fluff the pom poms, copy the sheet music and start practicing the drills!

On behalf of the dedicated members of the entire Granada Hills Parade Committee, we wish to thank you for your interest and loyal support of the Granada Hills Holiday Parade.

The 38th Annual 2021 Granada Hills Holiday Parade is scheduled for Sunday December 5, 2021 kicking off at 1:30 P.M. Rain or Shine.

WE ARE PLEASED TO ‘’BE BACK ‘’ IN 2021 TO ONCE AGAIN ‘’RING IN THE HOLIDAY SEASON ‘‘ AS OUTDOOR FESTIVALS AND COMMUNITY PARADES ARE PERMITTED WITHIN LOS ANGELES COUNTY COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS ( Please review at covid19.lacounty.gov )

It is very important to note that full FORWARD MOTION of all parade entries be maintained as there is no stopping in front of Cable TV or Judging Stand locations and throughout the entire parade route.

The John V Ciccarelli Parade Awards Ceremony with light refreshments will follow immediately thereafter the Granada Hills Holiday Parade at approximately 3:45 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Granada Hills Charter School Parking Lot near the Campus Main Gate adjacent to Corner of Zelzah Avenue and Kingsbury Street.

This year’s selected 2021 Granada Hills Holiday Parade Theme “A Charles Dickens Christmas ” is a fun opportunity to revel and invoke images of Victorian England, Figgy Pudding, Scrooge and Tiny Tim, Christmas Day Goose and Trimmings, Victorian Era Clothing, Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, London Christmas Caroling ( Wasserling) 8th Century Christmas Tree Candle Light Decorations. Horse and Buggy Holiday Décor. Use your imagination!

The Granada Hills Holiday Parade Committee takes great pride that it has never charged a Parade Entry Fee and derives its full financial support from the Granada Hills Community Foundation, Patriot Oil Community Trust Foundation as Administered by the North Valley Coalition and parent sponsor Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, 12th District Councilmember John Lee and our official loyal parade, local Neighborhood Councils Community Business, Civic Organization and Community Service Club sponsors.

Escalating costs of major insurance coverage fees, postage, advertising, judging fees, trophies and awards, restrooms etc. all require much needed additional financial to insure the continuation of this outstanding youth community event.

A Voluntary Tax-Deductible Donation of $Thirty-Five Dollars (Where Possible) payable to the GRANADA HILLS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION is encouraged and most appreciated to help out valley-wide holiday event to continue to exist and to grow and provide a wonderful opportunity to foster pride in individual and collective youth participation.

Looking forward to seeing you on a very festive and fun filled Sunday Parade Day December 5th 2021!

Sincerely,

The Granada Hills Holiday Parade Committee

P.S. It is important and a rule requirement that all parade entries have a designated representative in attendance at the concluding parade award ceremony following the conclusion of the Granada Hills Holiday Parade at Granada Hills Charter School. This is to help facilitate the presentation of parade trophy awards, notwithstanding failure to do so will result in parade trophy forfeiture

The 2021 return of the Granada Hills Holiday Parade!

Sunday, December 5th, 2021

Yes, it is ”Christmas in July, ” as it is important to now mark the calendar and start making preliminary plans for your participation in the return of the 2021 Granada Hills Holiday Parade!

This year’s Official Parade Theme ”A Charles Dickens Christmas” will invoke images of Figgy Pudding, Tiny Tim, 18th Century London Wasserling, Victorian Clothing, Town Criers, Horse and Buggy Revelers, 18th-century Christmas Tree Decorations, and ”A Christmas Carol” Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

In addition and as a special note, the Official Granada Hills Holiday Parade Grand Marshalls will be the teammate veterans of the 1970 City of Los Angeles Granada Hills High School Football Championship Team!

Over the next several weeks, efforts will be made to update older Parade Entry records. If you have a question please contact John Ciccarelli at jcicarelli@aol.com (Note one less letter ” C” in the email address spelling).

To help get into the festive spirit for our upcoming 2021 38th Annual Granada Hills Holiday Parade, please take a few minutes, if you have not done so already, to view and enjoy the 2020 Virtual Granada Hills Holiday Parade ”Favorite Holiday Memories” which helped maintain our four decade plus continuous hometown parade legacy last December in lieu of the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic. This video is a fun look back over many decades of enjoying many Granada Hills Holiday Parade Memories.

Looking forward to seeing many good friends and ringing in the holiday season this coming December, Sunday, December 5th 2021!

Sincerely

Alisa Altman, Tom Williams and John Ciccarelli
