All band and drill entries line up (in sequence) on the south curb of Chatsworth Street (see your map). We have all kinds of units and we have them approach the formation area from different directions for SAFETY reasons, so please assist us in this regard.
PRIVATE VEHICLES
ALL PARTICIPANTS SHOULD ENTER THE PARADE AREA FROM THE SOUTH END OF PETIT PARK. ALL DRIVERS SHOULD DROP OFF THEIR PARTICIPANTS AT ONE OF TWO DROP OFF POINTS
- NEAR THE GATE AT THE CORNER OF RUBIO AND CLYMER, OR
- IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE SOUTH END OF THE PARK.
PARTICIPANTS SHOULD WALK NORTH THROUGH THE PARK TO THE CURB AREA DESCRIBED ABOVE. SEE MAP BELOW
BUSES ONLY
ALL BAND and DRILL ENTRIES ARRIVING BY BUS SHOULD ENTER THE PARADE AREA FROM THE WEST TRAVELING EAST ON CHATSWORTH STREET. Participants should be dropped off at the south curb on Chatsworth and walk into the park area.
Closer to the parade start time, your units will make their way onto the south portion of Chatsworth Street – at the direction of our Band Coordinators. Vehicles may remain in the Formation Area just long enough to drop off participants and their equipment. Then they MUST vacate the area. Any vehicle left unattended WILL be towed – we have no choice in this matter, this if for both safety and operation reasons.
Vehicle travel in the Formation Area (Balboa on the west, Hayvenhurst on the east, Tulsa St on the north and San Jose on the south) will be restricted to parade entrants from 11:30am SHARP! THERE IS NO PARKING FOR VEHICLES NOT A PART OF THE PARADE IN THE FORMATION AREA – ONLY THOSE VEHICLES TRAVELING IN THE PARADE WILL BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN THE FORMATION AREA. Please spread the word to all those in your group who will be dropping off parade participants.
Check in between 11AM AND 12:30PM at the Chamber Tent in the park (just east of the Library at the northwest corner of the Park) – only one member from each unit need do so.
Please review ALL of the rules. Each one exists for a reason (or reasons) – most for safety reasons or to make the parade the best event that it can be. The Parade is for all of us – but especially for the children. Over 3,500 kids will participate in this year’s parade – and over 100,000 children have participated in it over the years.
Thank YOU for your participation – YOU help to “make” the parade.
