Equestrian Entrants

All Equestrian entries congregate in the Library Parking Lot of the Granada Hills Recreation Center. It is recommended that you arrive EARLY (the lot will be open by 8am). In order to accommodate ALL equestrian entries, we need YOUR cooperation. Once all of your horses are groomed, trailers MUST be moved from the parking lot to Hiawatha Street between Zelzah and Lindley Avenue (the disbanding area – immediately south of Granada Hills Charter High School). We will have shuttles ready to bring you back to the Library Parking lot. Let the Equestrian Coordinators know when you are ready to head to the high school and we’ll make sure the shuttles are ready for you. No trailers may remain in the Library Parking lot after noon LATEST.

We have all kinds of units and we have them approach the formation area from different directions for SAFETY reasons, so please assist us in this regard. ALL EQUESTRIAN ENTRIES SHOULD ENTER THE PARADE AREA FROM THE SOUTH ON PETIT AVENUE TRAVELING NORTH, TURNING INTO THE LIBRARY PARKING LOT (ON THE EAST) JUST BELOW CHATSWORTH STREET. YOU WILL CREATE A REAL RISK TO OTHER UNITS IF YOU ENTER THE FORMATION AREA IN ANY OTHER WAY. PLEASE HELP US!

Just before parade kick-off (1:30PM), All Equestrian entries will line up (in sequence) in the street on Petit Avenue with the lowest numbered equestrian unit just south of Chatsworth Street to the highest unit number running south on Petit.

Check in for Equestrian Units will occur in the Library Parking lot. You need go nowhere else. Just look for our Equestrians Coordinators and they will provide you with your registration packet. All Check-ins MUST occur no later than noon for Equestrian units (because of the logistical issues presented with trailers, etc)

Please review ALL of the rules. Each one exists for a reason (or reasons) – most for safety reasons or to make the parade the best event that it can be. The Parade is for all of us – but especially for the children. Over 3,500 kids will participate in this year’s parade – and over 100,000 children have participated in it over the years.

For those of your units that include a vehicle IN the parade (for music, etc.), the vehicle is to line up in the MOTORIZED section of the Formation Area (see your map). We will merge your unit together at Petit and Chatsworth Street as the parade begins (we have done this many times – no problem.) The vehicle may NOT remain in the Equestrian area – for safety reasons.

Thank YOU for your participation – YOU help to “make” the parade.
